EARLIER this year Bathurst sidecar racer Sean Griffiths narrowly missed out on a podium at the New South Wales Senior Track titles, but that is now acting as motivation for a more prestigious meeting.

Griffiths is hoping to outdo some of the nation’s best at the Australian Senior Dirt Track Titles, which will be held at Barleigh Ranch, Raymond Terrance, on August 13-14.
He will pair up with the man who acted as his passenger at the state meeting – Paul Cooper – but that is not where Griffiths’ only chance lies.
“Not only am I competing in this event, but I have two teams competing,” Griffiths said.
“I will be on the 750cc with Paul Cooper passenger. My 600cc outfit will be Shayne Davies from West Wylong and Arron Wilson from Bathurst.
“Shayne has been at the top in the past and after a big crash three years ago, is now getting back into it. Arron has swung on road race sidecars and is now giving the dirt a go and looks very promising.
“Both bikes are running extremely well and we hope to at least make the semi-finals. It looks as though there could be three grids competing for the title. This means around 18 outfits, including the best in Australia.”
Contesting the nationals is the start of a busy period for Griffiths, who will head to the Griffith Classic three weeks later.
