The decision was made on Wednesday that University Oval would be closed over the weekend, leaving CSU no chance to try and bounce back from a heavy loss in the previous round.
Their opponents made the offer to the students of taking the match over to Cowra but CSU declined.
The match has been deferred until a later date, which is still to be determined.
The students were coming into the match off a big 50-0 defeat to the second-placed Forbes Platypi.
With the resumption of the university semester a rejuvenated CSU team would have felt they had an opportunity to find their fourth win of the season.
CSU coach Pip McIntosh said the team were looking determined to get on the field and make amends for the previous round’s defeat.
“We had a pretty good training session on last night but sadly the weather gods haven’t been kind to us,” he said.
“We haven’t been able to get a full strength team together for four weeks so in this game we definitely would have seen an improvement.
“At the start of the year we made two or three steps forward but since then we’ve probably taken a step back so that’s been disappointing.”
McIntosh said while his team had showed plenty of spirit they’ve been down on training time.
“I don’t want to send the guys in unprepared,” he said.
“We’ve only had two training sessions over the last five weeks … and not one of those was with the scrum machine available.
“I’ve got a duty of care to my forwards in the scrum and sending them in without practice means they could risk injuries.”
CSU moved their home fixture against Orange City to their opponent’s venue several rounds ago due to the wet weather, a decision McIntosh said will not be happening again for any of his team’s future matches this season.
Although it’s been a rainy winter this is only the first time CSU have been denied a match this year.
CSU currently sit eighth on the ladder with three wins from 13 matches.
Fellow Bathurst Blowes Clothing Cup side Bulldogs also have a rained out match still to play, theirs being against the Dubbo Kangaroos from a fortnight ago.
“We’re hoping that we’ll be able to play Cowra in a mid-week match. That’s what I’m going to be pushing for,” McIntosh said.
In other games this Blowes Clothing Cup round Orange Emus host Parkes Boars, Dubbo Rhinos are home to the Platypi, Bulldogs play Narromine Gorillas and City have the bye.
