After months of planning, parkrun is set to launch at Bathurst’s Bicentennial Park on Saturday.
Event director Jennifer Arnold said parkrun is an inclusive way for everyone to exercise, all while meeting new people.
The parkrun course is five kilometres long.
People are invited to come back week after week to try to improve on their performance.
“It is a timed event, so shortly after the event is finished they’ll get an email with all their statistics,” Ms Arnold said.
To participate, people will need to register online at www.parkrun.com.au/register and print out their barcode, which needs to be brought to each parkrun event. The event will run from 8am on Saturday, weather permitting.
“If there is any risk for runner safety it will not go ahead and it will just roll over to the following Saturday,” Ms Arnold said.
