The Bureau of Meteorology warning says a strengthening west to northwesterly airstream is expected across New South Wales, with a cold front that will move across the state on Friday and Saturday.
Damaging winds will average 60-70km/h with peak gusts in excess of 90km/h are forecast to develop across the southeast during Friday or early Saturday.
The warning said central and southern western slopes could also be affected, particularly in association with shower activity.
Winds are expected to ease during Saturday.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
- Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
- Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
