Again and again this week the city’s State Emergency Service’s dedicated bunch of guys and girls have volunteered hours of their time to assist those in need.
In the last week they have been tasked across Bathurst, Perthville and Georges Plains helping the community.
The week before they were in Hill End to give a resident cut off by floodwaters his essential medication.
In the days before that, they received an emergency call out to the Sofala Road for a fatal single car accident.
With all this in mind, Parade would like to give a shout out to this dedicated bunch of volunteers for giving up their time to make us all a little safer.
Thank you for putting your work and social life on hold to help our fantastic community.
Will the winter rain ever stop?
AS a dedicated weather watcher, Parade has been watching the rising water levels in our creeks, dams and rain gauges this winter.
In an average winter, Bathurst records 142.4 millimetres of rain across the three month period.
This winter, however, the city has so far recorded 208.5mm of rain and we still have more than a month of the season left to go.
Soggy conditions are predicted to continue this week with more rain in store for Bathurst on Monday and then again this weekend coming.
Fast food fix was a firm favourite
EACH Sunday staff in the Western Advocate’s office have a bit of a tradition – fast food for lunch.
There may have only been a few people in the office this past Sunday, but as soon as it Parade announced she was heading out for fast food, many hands shot up.
We try and eat healthy most of the time, but there is something about fast food on a Sunday that just tastes wonderful.
As we slurped the last of our drinks and munched the last mouthful of salty takeaway goodness, Parade promises she’ll be eating better on Monday.
