The young talents in the Saints’ squad rose to the challenge of taking on more responsibility and as such, the blue and whites posted a 3-1 victory.
“We did really well today, we were 3-0 up and they only scored with about seven to go. That did put a little bit of pressure on us, but we held it together,” Pat’s co-captain Shane Conroy said.
“Given the personnel we had out, to come away with a 3-1 win, we are pretty stoked. The young boys all really stepped up today.”
The opening half saw little between the sides, but Pat’s went ahead 10 minutes out from the break via a Tyler Willott goal.
The Saints managed to add another before half-time as Tobbie Muldoon found the mark from a penalty corner play.
“It was really crucial that we scored again just before half-time,” Conroy said.
“In the second half we came out a little bit slow and they really stepped things up as well. It was pretty tight there, but Luke Thorncraft managed to score for us with a nice shot off his back stick.”
Thorncraft’s effort made it 3-0 and while Parkes did managed to pull one goal back, the Saints held on for their 10th win of the season.
