Fire and Rescue NSW crews were called to the site at midnight after the building’s automatic fire alarm was activated in the 69k/h winds.
“When the roof lifted off it activated the alarm,” Station Officer Chris Sanders said.
Firefighters found a small amount of asbestos in the building, but Station Officer Sanders said it “was never a threat to anyone’s safety”.
