The vintage train, from Lithgow State Mine Heritage Park and Railway, travelled to the village east of Bathurst to deliver passengers to the Tarana Community Farmers’ Markets.
“When the train arrived at 12.45, some children raced alongside, but were inside the yellow line,” a markets spokesperson said.
“Train enthusiasts were allowed inside the first and second class compartments and to sit on the seats. Gas heating warmed the carriages and conductors wore the uniforms of that era.”
The popular Tarana farmers’ markets are held on the fourth Sunday of each month.
