The extensive work is for the first two of four planned fields for the St Pat’s Rugby League Club.
Junior and senior St Pat's players have been without a home ground since they finished playing at Jack Arrow Oval following their 2012 season.
As tenders were called for the first two fields earlier this year, St Pat's senior secretary Gary Goldsmith said he couldn't be happier for his club.
“To say we are delighted would be an understatement,” he said.
“It’s massive for the code in that it allows the 21 teams that Bathurst St Pat's have to start to form a base after we lost our ground [at Jack Arrow].”
Bathurst Regional Council have set aside $2.5 million for the construction of the four football fields.
