But it certainly makes for some interesting press releases, such as the one this week that announced Margot Robbie was the front-runner to be the next James Bond girl and Home And Away’s Irene Roberts – yes, Irene Roberts - was a $501 outsider.

For those playing along at home, Hollywood darling Jennifer Lawrence is also right in the mix and the odds for Gone Girl star Emily Ratajkowski (Parade must admit to not having heard of this young actress) are also not too bad.

As an aside, Parade discovered yesterday that Irene Roberts has her own Wikipedia page that goes through some of the personal hardships she has faced during her tumultuous years in ever-sunny Summer Bay.

It makes for interesting – and at times exhausting – reading.

PARADE has no inside information on this, but would still be interested in hearing what odds are being offered on Australia getting a new prime minister in the next two years.

Both the major political parties confess to understanding the public’s weariness for the constant coups that tear down sitting prime ministers, but neither of the parties seems to have lost the hunger for savage internal dissent and compulsive opinion poll-watching.

Who can forget the (verbal) beating Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull took during the long period between the federal election voting and the result being known? 

And that beating was from members of his own Coalition.

A genie appears to have been let out of a bottle, and Parade imagines it will be hard to stuff it back in.

If the odds were juicy enough, Parade would be interested in having a couple of lazy dollars on there being a new person in The Lodge (or Kirribilli House, or Point Piper) in the next two years, and then a new person again in the next two years after that.

Having said that, it’s hard to imagine much of a return being offered.
