Held at Bathurst TAFE and attended by staff, students and the wider community, the crowds heard about the recently-formed group’s projects.
Bathurst Young Mob’s Shona Kennedy said the group has already undertaken a number of projects with the idea of “paying it forward” to the wider community.
“We wanted to create opportunities for kids that had some disadvantage in their lives, I don’t like to say disadvantaged,” she said.
“Essentially the message I wanted to give them was to step outside your comfort zone.”
Ms Kennedy said the group promotes messages of respect, cultural tolerance and being a valued member of the community.
The NAIDOC Week celebration coincided with Bathurst TAFE campus’ vocational education and training open day.
NAIDOC Week is held nationally each July, but Bathurst celebrates it in September.
