While this has been a positive experience so far, the musician said solo life came with its challenges.
“I carry a lot of the equipment now,” he laughed.
“Confidence is a major factor because you don’t have the support of anyone else. I think that can be daunting for people.”
A self-described “nineties kid”, Webb said he had a passion for performing cover songs.
“I think a lot of people come out for the 90s covers,” he said.
“I like playing punk songs and Matchbox 20. The crowd enjoys it as well.”
It was this music that initially encouraged him to pursue music at 14 years old.
“I wanted to be like Daniel Johns in Silverchair,” he said.
“The band was as young as me and they were awesome.”
Webb found a lot of opportunities to play with youth week performances and battle of the bands.
In the spirit of giving back, Webb is a strong believer in supporting Orange’s music scene.
He regularly attends his friends’ gigs to show his support and he is passionate about opportunities for young up-and-coming musicians.
“If you support others and enough people do it, you create a culture,” he said.
“I always try and support local acts when I can.”
He said while the local music scene could be bigger, there were a few venues playing their part in creating a culture.
“I think places like 4 on the 4loor and The Agrestic Grocer have created a culture where people want to come and have a good time,” he said.
“If people know it’ll be fun, they’ll come back.”
Webb is set to perform at the next Sunday Sessions held at Orange Ex-Services Club.
“I think it’s great what the Orange Ex-Services Club is doing. There’s a great atmosphere.”
Sunday Sessions with Dallas Webb will be held on Sunday, July 31 from 1pm to 4pm.
Entry to the event is free.
