Held each Saturday, parkrun invites people to walk or run a five kilometre course through Bicentennial Park, after which they receive a time.
Participants can come back each week to try to improve their time.
Event director Jennifer Arnold said it was fantastic to see so many people come to support the event, particularly people who came from outside the city.
“We had people from Sydney and Newcastle, Dubbo and Orange and Culcairn, down near Wagga Wagga,” she said.
People who had come to Bathurst from the United Kingdom also participated.
“It was a really special event to have all those parkrun tourists staying overnight, spending money and coming to Bathurst to see the city,” Ms Arnold said.
The event will return next Saturday from 8am.
