But this year when the team returns to the iconic track with a two-car entry, they are planning to perform much better.
So far in the 2016 Supercars championship, drivers Scott Pye and Fabian Coulthard have enjoyed moments of brilliance mixed with disappointing results.
However, team managing director Ryan Story revealed DJR has put a focus on getting their cars ready for the Enduro Cup which encompasses the Sandown 500, Bathurst 1000 and Gold Coast 600.
“A big priority for this year has been the Pirtek Enduro Cup races,” Story told speedcafe.com
“We have been focussing on them even in the early stages of this year and hopefully it will show up in the longer races. There are things that we have done to the cars throughout the year that have been developed solely for the enduros.”
