THE driver of a car involved in a fatal crash that killed school teacher Kerri Parkes has been refused bail in Orange Local Court.

Bodie Brown, 21, of Queensland, was represented by solicitor Neil Jones and did not appear in court or apply for bail.
He has been charged with a number of offences including dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, cause bodily harm by misconduct, unlicensed driving and not keep left of driving line.
Police allege that about 12.45pm on Sunday, Brown was driving a white Holden Commodore east on the Mitchell Highway at Vittoria when it collided with a silver Holden Commodore that was travelling in the opposite direction.
A 56-year-old male driver of the westbound vehicle was taken to Orange Health Service by ambulance for treatment to minor injuries and has since been released.
The front seat passenger, his 53-year-old wife Kerri Parkes, died at the scene.
Brown was taken to Orange hospital with a fractured cheek. His 16-year-old female passenger was also taken to Orange hospital suffering a fractured wrist.
Brown was released from hospital on Monday and taken to Orange police station for questioning and arrested a short time later.
A brief will be prepared for the court by September 26.
A reply is due to be heard at Orange Local Court on October 10.
Chifley local area command duty officer Inspector David Abercrombie said on Sunday that a triple-0 call came through to emergency services saying there had been a collision 24km west of Bathurst.
Police immediately established a crime scene and cordoned off the road.
“Police and other emergency services all responded to the emergency call just after 12.45pm,” Inspector Abercrombie said.
Crash investigation officers from both the Western Region and Metropolitan commands made their way to the area.
Investigators arrived on scene just after 2.20pm.
