Despite numerous placings Spirited Addition had gone 41 starts since the previous win, at GiIlgandra in August, 2014.
Other wins for the 85 starts veteran were in Adelaide (twice in 2011) and Dubbo in July, 2013.
Now prepared by Dubbo trainer Michael Lunn,Spirited Addition was allowed to settle well back at GiIlgandra by Greg Ryan.
After weaving through the field Spirited Addition ($6.50) steamed home to score by a neck from Double Halo ( Jamie Gibbons, $6.00 ) with Sunshine Royale (Jeff Kehoe, $6.00) a handy third.
Bruce Parker who trains the runner up Double Halo at GiIlgandra had earlier won the Bob and Claire Coxedge Memorial-Benchmark 45 Handicap, 800 metres,with Spicy Angers.
Ridden by Nyngan apprentice Clayton Gallagher.
Spicy Angers ($4.40) flashed home along the rails for a close win over the pacemakers Burbie (Kody Nestor, $7.00) and Return Journey (Ken Dunbar, $3.40 favourite).
Another GiIlgandra trainer to land a winner was Leo Harland with Trust Me Bill in the Keith Kilby Memorial- Benchmark 45 Handicap,1600 metres.
Given a nice run behind the leaders by Jeff Kehoe,Trust Me Bill ($8.00) finished best to account for First Defence ( Grant Challinger, $9.00) and Dragon's Reign ( Erhan Kacmaz, $13.00).
Other winners were the Clint Lundholm,Dubbo trained Bip And Bop (Kody Nestor, $3.50 fav.) and Very Sheik ($12.00) ridden by Daniel Pitomac for Wellington trainer Cecil Maxwell.
