But just before 9am, as he was sitting talking to a friend over coffee, that’s exactly what he got.
“I was sitting in here with my mate and we heard this loud bang outside.”
It was about 8.45am, and Mr Jensen said he went straight outside to see what the noise was.
“I had no idea what had happened, so I opened the door and there was an arrow stuck in it.”
He said it appeared to be made out of wood or some type of composite material.
“It’s not a child’s toy with suction on the end, it’s a proper arrow,” he said.
Mr Jensen said the front door was timber and about 40mm thick, with the arrow heavily embedded in it. He had no idea who shot the arrow but said it was “a stupid thing to do”.
“It was some idiot. Who knows why someone would do something like that.
“To shoot it towards a village doesn’t make any sense.
“If someone had had a mishap [and discharged the arrow accidentally) I’m sure they would have come and checked everyone was okay, but that didn’t happen.”
Mr Jensen said he called the police, but he knew whoever had shot the arrow would be long gone, as the police would have to travel from Bathurst to Sofala.
“I called them anyway. I thought they should know it happened.”
Mr Jensen said he thought the arrow was shot from about 150 metres away.
“It hit the door with some force.”
“They’ve shot it towards the village in between two houses, and it's come across the main street into my front door.”
He acknowledged if the arrow had struck someone it potentially could have killed them.
“I guess if you shoot enough of them eventually one will hit someone,” he said.
Mr Jensen there have been hunters in the area who may have been using bows and arrows.
“I know there are a lot of people hunting pigs at the moment, and they’ve been going on private land without asking.
“Every so often we get people out here doing the wrong thing.
“But whoever shot this was an idiot,” he said.
Police are investigating the incident.
