The team picked up a number of podium results and a swag of personal best times from the recent Nepean Short Course Qualifying Meet held at Sydney Olympic Park.
Bathurst swimmers were searching for qualifying times to take part in the upcoming NSW State Age Championships on August 26-28.
Leading the way was the victorious mixed age girls 200 metre relay team of Molly McCrossin, Emily Press, Taylah Wade and Emilee Curran.
The team won in a time of two minutes and 8.86 seconds, with McCrossin’s fast opening leg taking her onward to the championships.
“The standout performance was the girls in their mixed relay. They took home $100 cash and trophy as well,” coach Steve Howell said.
“Molly McCrossin did well. She qualified for the 50 metres freestyle. Tom Press also got personal bests in every event he swam in. The rest of the team all performed very well.
“Molly actually false started in her individual 50m freestyle race but was able to qualify through her swim in the relay.”
Curran picked up an individual victory in the 50m freestyle (in 31.10) to go along with her relay success, while also finishing third in the 100m freestyle.
Press finished on top in the 100m breaststroke and added two other podium finishes for the stroke.
McCrossin, Mitch Nelson and Emily Saint also enjoyed top three results at Homebush.
Wade, Max Mead, Jasmine Gold, Lilliana Press, Brianna Urquhart, Milla Nelson, Ruby Thorne, and Patrick Saint all swam strongly and enjoyed significant time improvements.
“The team have put in a lot of hard work lately. They’ve really started to knuckle down and focus on what they’re trying to achieve. We’ve also been doing a lot of goal-setting with summer around the corner,” Howell said.
“The whole coaching team are very happy with the way the squad has progressed. We’re very proud of the kids and what they've achieved so far.”
McCrossin, Patrick O'Hara, Toby Partridge and Collette Lyons are the Bathurst swimmers who will go on to contest the State Age Championships.
Lyons scored six wins at the recent ACT Winter Meet held at the Australian Institute of Sport. Partridge also scored a pair of runner-up results at the event.
Other Bathurst swimmers at the Canberra meet were Lauren Lyons and Kirrily Edwards – who both had time improvements - plus Kate Edwards, who finished third in the 100m freestyle.
