Last Saturday while Villages did battle in the major semi-final against Wallerawang – a match it won 18-8 – Blackheath enjoyed the day off courtesy of being minor premiers.
Since beating Wallerwang in last year’s grand final, Blackheath has not dropped a game.
The Blackcats posted 13 wins and two draws during the regular season, their results including a 108-2 win over Lithgow Giants.
However, Villages came close to upsetting Blackheath in round eight when going down 22-20.
“It should be a good game and it will be interesting to see if we can do Blackheath up in Blackheath,” Villages co-coach Kris Kennedy said.
“They haven’t lost a game, they beat us by two points in that last game by scoring in the last minute or so.
“They are pretty good across the park, they play quite similar to what we play. It will be a tough game, but we are looking forward to it.”
Villages will also be motivated by the memory of losing last year’s preliminary final 26-16 to Blackheath.
Saturday’s match starts at 2.30pm at Don Bradman Oval.
