With a below strength squad, the Giants went down 31-32-218 to 1-4-10 to the Outlaws at George Park 1 on Saturday.
Giants were on the back foot early as the Outlaws booted 10 majors in the opening term.
The only goal for Kennedy’s side against the minor premiers came from Paul Jenkins in the third quarter.
“I know that we didn’t get the results that we wanted to, but we got a win against Young which was really, really good. I just wanted to make sure we got through the year and put a team on the paddock and we did,” Kennedy told Bathurst Giants TV.
Though the Giants’ seniors only notched up one win for 2016, what the junior sides managed has Kennedy feeling optimistic.
The under 12s finished as runners-up, the under 14s as premiers, while the under 18s head into the finals series as the undefeated minor premiers.
“I think the under 18s have benefited from playing in the first grade senior side and that is reflected in the fact they are undefeated this year,” he said.
“I am really proud of what we have achieved this year, the seniors haven’t got the results, but they will come. It will come with the growth in the juniors and the 18s we have got coming through.
“I think we have got a very bright future.”
Pre-season training for the Giants will start in November.
