Showers and rain are predicted for every day until Friday as the Central Tablelands’ wet winter continues.
Perthville residents have already endured two floods in two weeks this winter, the last of them only a little over a fortnight ago, so the prospect of more sustained wet weather will not be welcomed.
The Gordon Edgell Bridge on Hereford Street was also submerged by Macquarie River floodwaters twice in as many weeks, leading to a renewed debate among Bathurst councillors about raising the bridge.
Craig Ronan, the region controller for Central West SES, said on Monday that the organisation will be keeping an eye on Georges Plains, Perthville and Bathurst.
“People will be aware that the catchments for the Macquarie River, Vale Creek and Georges Plains Creek are already very wet,” he said.
The forecast is for up to 20 millimetres of rain on Wednesday, though Mr Ronan said there could be more in localised falls in some areas.
Mr Ronan asked people to be careful driving during the wet conditions and reminded people not to enter floodwaters.
“We could see some flooding if we get more than 20 millimetres,” he said.
He said the wet trend was forecast to continue until the end of October.
As of Monday afternoon, Bathurst had received 475mm for the year, in comparison with 335mm to the same day in 2015.
