Mount Panorama will host the event on August 27 and will feature six teams from all over Australia.
There will be 23 classes across the day, between the six teams, with the very best zebra finches on show.
Bathurst Regional Aviculture Society president Bill Sewell is one of four Bathurst locals competing for the Sydney branch team.
“The birds selected are the best of the best,” Mr Sewell said.
“They’re also unique to Australia.
“They’re good birds to get started in the bird game.”
Other locals included in the state team include John Handley, Trevor Weal and Ray Griffin.
While some zebra finches can be bought at a pet shop for a few dollars, an auction on the Saturday afternoon could see some birds sell for up to $300.
The event is open to the public, with voluntary donations accepted.
