The Saturday afternoon social competition saw two rinks of triples in action with the daily rink winners David Josh, Terry Clark and Max Elms 18-12 winners over Lotszy Kosta, Bob Jenkins and Ron McGarry. In a match shortened to 18 ends, the Kosta team were carrying an injured player which held their scoring back in the early ends. Club and District Championships
Just the one second round Minor Singles match on Sunday this week with Peter Drew taking a 31-20 win over Kevin Howard with Bob Bembrick providing the marker duties. While Howard collected first points with a one and two in the first two ends, Drew opened his scoring with a two and a three to lead 5-3 going into the fifth end. Despite flashes of brilliance from Howard where he was able to get within two shots of Drew in the 12th end at 10-8, Drew seemed able to put the foot down and power away. In the 15th end Drew began a five end run to score 12 unanswered shots and take a commanding lead of 24-9 going into the 20th end. Howard came back with his own run of one, four, one but he couldn’t maintain the momentum and Drew simply pulled away to score a comfortable 11 shot win.
