A WOMAN who caught the eye of police because she was speeding has been disqualified from driving for six months after being convicted of drink-driving.

Linda Maree Bennett, 42, of West Street, West Bathurst appeared in person and unrepresented before magistrate Michael Allen to answer a charge of mid-range PCA.
The court heard that on July 2 this year police attached to Bathurst Highway Patrol were parked on Lambert Street monitoring vehicle speeds.
Bennett was driving west on Lambert Street when her vehicle was clocked travelling at 70km/h.
Police stopped the car in Suttor Street and spoke to the driver.
They told Bennett the interview was being recorded by the police car’s in-house video recording system. A roadside breath test produced a positive result.
Bennett was placed under arrest and taken to Bathurst police station where she recorded a breath analysis 0.112.
She was questioned by police regarding her consumption of alcohol, and told officers that she had consumed her first drink at 5.30pm and her last at 7pm.
She told police she had consumed two schooners of Tooheys New.
The court heard police believed Bennett was moderately affected by alcohol.
Mr Allen convicted Bennett, fined her $300 disqualified her from driving for six months, with Section 225 of the Road and Transport Act to apply.
The court heard on the night she was arrested Bennett was also issued with a traffic penalty notice for speeding.
