The coaching clinic has been organised by Bathurst Panthers Junior Rugby League and is open to any young players who want to have a go.
“We’ve opened it from ages six to 16 years; everyone is welcome and you don’t need to be part of a club,” juniors coach Harry Saban said.
The clinic will include two hour drills and skills training and a kicking seminar.
Mr El Masri said he also wants to talk to the kids about healthy eating, how to behave on and off the field and answer any questions they may have,
“I’m more than happy to pass on how I was able to be part of the game,” he said.
Mr El Masri is considered one of Australia’s best NRL players, finishing his career with the NRL career point scoring record of 2,418 points in 317 games.
He also broke the National Rugby League point scoring record for a single season in 2004 with 342 points and kicked a record breaking 35 consecutive goals in first grade.
Mr Saban said it is a rare opportunity for kids in Bathurst to be coached by someone of Mr El Masri’s calibre.
“He is one of the best we’ve got in Australia and we are so privileged to have him come to Bathurst and work with the kids,” he said.
Mr El Masri said he can’t wait to be part of the clinic.
“I’m just looking forward to it. I’ve been to Bathurst a few times and actually played there for City-Country, so I’m excited and I can’t wait to be there,” he said.
The clinic will be held on September 28 at Carrington Park from 1pm to 3pm.
Parents can registered their children for the clinic by visiting www.ticketebo.com.au/bathurst-panthers-junior-rugby-league/ and following the prompts.
The cost of the clinic is $60 per child.
In addition to the training, participants will receive an Elmagic sports pack.
