The Thunder are hoping to enter up to six different age divisions across both Friday and Saturday cricket.
The creation of the club coincides with the 20th anniversary of the Bathurst City Redbacks.
“If you don’t have a strong junior structure then the longevity of your senior team is short,” Thunder co-coordinator Trent Hemsworth said.
"The guys that formed the Redbacks club 20 years ago are retired or getting towards the end of their playing days and we want their legacy to continue on.”
Last season’s NSW T20 Blast isn’t taking place this summer but the good news is that Bathurst District Junior Cricket Association will continue to run a Friday night kanga cricket competition.
“The Friday night competition was successful and we want kids to continue playing there,” Hemsworth said.
“It allowed parents to have their weekends free and their kids can still play cricket.
“We’re hoping to enter under 7s and 9s for Friday, plus under 7s, 9s, 10s, 12s, 14s and 16s on Saturdays.”
Anyone with queries or those who wish to join can find club members at the mobile registration tent, located at Proctor Park on Saturday mornings.
