Matthew Kenneth Edwards, 43, of Rocket Street, appeared in person and unrepresented before magistrate Michael Allen in Bathurst Local Court last month.
The court heard at around 5pm on April 15, police were patrolling the south Bathurst area when they observed Edwards walking in Currawong Street on the south curb.
He was stopped by police who noticed he was sweating heavily and was unable to maintain eye contact with them.
Police asked if he had any drugs in his possession but he did not reply.
Due to his erratic behavior police formed the opinion he was affected by drugs.
Police asked again if he was in the possession of a prohibited drug and he indicated his right pocket to police.
He was searched by police who found a large Glad bag containing green vegetable matter, which Edwards indicated was cannabis as well as a brass cannabis pipe in his left pocket, which was also seized.
Mr Allen convicted Edwards, fining him $200 and ordered the drug be destroyed.
On the same day, Edwards was also sentenced for driving with illicit substance in blood [second plus offence] relating to an incident which occurred on April 8.
The court heard he drove a motor vehicle when he had methyl amphetamine and cannabis in his system. He was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for 12 months.
