Member for Bathurst Paul Toole made the announcement on Tuesday at the launch of the university’s Multi-Region Hub Program, also government funded.
Mr Toole said the partnership aims to get businesses and researchers working closely together to generate new ideas.
“This partnership is about supporting local businesses to develop relationships with Charles Sturt University’s researchers to grow and create new businesses and jobs,” he said.
“The Boost initiative focuses on collaboration between local business and regional networks across the CSU footprint in NSW, with two components of the program based in the Bathurst and Wagga Wagga regions.”
Hubs of innovation will be developed by CSU through the partnership.
One of these, a digital showcase and start up hub, will be in Bathurst for regional business acceleration and connectivity.
CSU Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Ken Dillon, said the program would continue the university’s 100-year tradition of “engagement with our local communities and regional industries to drive innovation and entrepreneurship”.
“The strength and breadth of our footprint provides us with a unique opportunity to drive innovative potential within regional Australia,” he said.
