On Friday, the school will host its 10th annual Father’s Day Big Brekkie for fathers, grandfathers, uncles and the children at the school.
School staff will be on deck from 5am to prepare and cook a hot brekkie for the school to celebrate Father’s Day.
Fathers and kids will come along from 6.30am to around 9am to have a hot brekkie together before dads makes their way to work.
And what a spread they will enjoy with bacon, eggs, sausages, a hot cuppa, fresh fruit and juice all on the menu.
Holy Family principal Kevin Arrow said the Father’s Day breakfast had grown into one of the real highlights on the school’s calendar each year.
“This is about celebrating Father’s Day and the important men in the lives of the children all within the school community,” Mr Arrow said.
“This event celebrates the school motto ‘Gathered in Love’ and in recent years has been an outstanding success in the school’s courtyard.
“Last year we provided over 850 hot brekkies at the school which boasts around 385 students.
“Some granddads even travelled from Sydney just to be in the fun of celebrating Father’s Day with the children.”
This year’s Big Brekkie is also raising funds to support the ongoing restoration project at Bathurst’s Cathedral of St Michael and St John.
“This local cause is part of our link to the local Cathedral parish and we would like to support this important need,’’ Mr Arrow said.
“Staff and students will come to school on Big Brekkie day and will be invited to donate a gold coin for the Cathedral Restoration Appeal. This is a wonderful fundraiser at a Father’s Day event.”
Mr Arrow said the breakfast was all about bringing people together within the school environment.
“It is about getting dads involved in the school and it promotes a strong interest in a sense of community at the school,” he said.
Dads, granddads and those favourite uncles and children can call in at any time from 6.30am to around 9am to join in the fun.
“A half hour or hour visit is all that is needed,” Mr Arrow said. “It is a great way for dads to network with other dads at the school as well.”
