Panthers and Pat’s have taken out every league tag competition since its introduction to Group 10 – each winning two titles – and after this weekend’s match in Orange one side will go a step closer to increasing their premiership tally.
Pat’s booked their spot against minor premiers Panthers after a 20-6 win at home over the Blayney Bears last weekend.
"That was probably our best performance so far this year. Execution was great, there was no dropped ball and the tagging was excellent. Blayney threw everything they had at us so I was very happy to get that victory,” Pat’s coach Mick Armstrong said.
“The local derby is always good fun. The Bathurst teams have always been great quality since league tag was introduced to the competition and the girls always get a kick out of this match.”
Panthers captain Monique Christie Johnson expects a great contest.
“We had a couple of new players this year so it took us some time to find our feet and our form. We’ve only played one game over the last four weeks … but leading up to that we were playing very well,” she said.
“It’s always tight between us and Pat’s. We’re both coming into the game with good form but finals can be a whole different ball game.”
St Pat’s and Panthers do battle at Wade Park following the league tag minor semi-final between the Bears and Orange CYMS.
