A perfect balance of youth and experience, that’s what led Orange CYMS to the Group 10 first division minor title and it’s also what puts them in great stead leading into Sunday’s major semi-final.

Like their premier league outfit, CYMS will take on Bathurst Panthers in reserve grade, the winner will earn a week off and go straight into the grand final – it would be CYMS’ fifth appearance in a decider in the last six years.
The green and golds are gunning for their third straight title too. The major semi-final continues the long-standing rivalry the two clubs have in reserves.
“That balance, the mix of experience and youth, is what I’ve put our success down to so far this year,” CYMS coach Dom Maley, also the club’s premier league five-eighth, said.
“The experience comes from the guys like Steve Lane, Des Knight and Riley Law and the younger guys, some up from under-18s this year, really complement them well.”
Maley said his side is confident going into the game but wary too, especially considering Panthers handed them one of just three losses they suffered this year.
“We’re quietly confident,” Maley said.
“Panthers are a better side now than they were at that point though, we’ll be wary. Their real strength is in their halves, especially five-eighth Joey Bugg. He was very good in that game they beat us.”
Sunday’s major semi-final kicks off at 12.45pm at Wade Park following the two league tag games and the under-18s.
