Four hundred years after Shakespeare's death, the tragedy of Othello continues to resonate. Racism, misogyny and domestic violence are all still with us.
One of William Shakespeare’s most famous and passionate tragedies, Othello, is a violent exploration of the thin line that separates love and jealousy.
This gripping production has been directed by Bell Shakespeare’s artistic director Peter Evans, and will touch audiences to their core, as envy is a weapon wielded with brazen savagery and the complex contradictory nature of humanity is tested.
There will be one performance of Othello, on Thursday, September 22 at 7.30pm.
No doubt cartoonist Michael Leunig's calendars adorn the fridge doors of many Sunday Morning Herald readers. His work has also been widely published overseas, and has been adapted in Australia for television, radio, theatre and now a capella song.
The final show for the 2016 season comes as a gift from twelve composers who have created a new musical almanac for The Song Company drawing on the words and work of one our most iconic public figures, Michael Leunig.
To ring out the old season and toll in the new, we present 12 new songs and 12 stories, one for each month.
The All-Leunig Song Almanac is a musical version of those well-known calendars, in which composers wrote vocal pieces using emotional poems.
This is an entertaining performance sure to delight those of all ages.
There will only be one performance of this song almanac, on Friday, September 30 at 8pm.
