It was a fantastic result seeing two of the nicest guys in the sport take a great win, with Garth Tander and Warren Luff going the right way to defend their Pirtek Enduro Cup crown in the #2 Holden Racing Team Commodore.
Luff set the pair up with an impressive opening stint in the car, and it came as a boost for the Walkinshaw Group after it was recently announced they would lose its financial support from Holden and stripped of the HRT name from next year.
For Garth it was his 53rd Supercar race win and his first since Townsville 2014, which means he was winless for 74 races. Second was Shane van Gisbergen and Frenchman Alex Premat in the Red Bull Racing Holden and third the Will Davison/Jonathon Webb Tekno Autosport Holden. Surprisingly, three of the championship front runners finished much further down than expected.
Jamie Whincup took the flag 13th after Paul Dumbrell unfastened his seatbelt too early at the end of his double stint, costing them a drive-through penalty. They were also hampered by the teams decision not to pit Dumbrell under the lap 55 Safety Car.
Craig Lowndes finished eighth after an early spin for Steven Richards at turn four, but their troubles really started on Saturday in the co-drivers qualifying race on the first lap at turn 1 after a mistake by Mark Winterbottom's co-driver Dean Canto put cars off everywhere, including Richards who rejoined last.
Winterbottom was two laps down in 23rd, but his drama's also went back to Saturday, for Canto was given a drive though penalty for the start line incident, and then in the race Canto came unstuck and found the tyre barriers, requiring a tow back on track.
Going into the 500 Van Gisbergen was 137 points adrift of Whincup, but he now holds a seven point lead over the six-time champion with four events remaining.
Lowndes is 157 behind in third ahead of Scott McLaughlin, who finished fourth on Sunday with David Wall, and Winterbottom, who has fallen 346 from the lead in fifth.
The highlight of Sundays Singapore Formula One Grand Prix had to be the stirring drive from Australian Daniel Ricciardo to finish second in the Red Bull just two tenths of a second behind the Mercedes of Nico Rosberg.
The FIA are investigating an incident an incident in the Singapore Grand Prix when it was restarted from a safety car period with a marshal still on the track picking up debris after Nico Hulkenberg start line crash, and he sprinted for safety as the field closed in on him.
