The three-time mayor was re-elected unopposed and said he was pleased to be moving into his fourth consecutive term.
“I’m feeling tremendous. It is great to know that you have the confidence of your councillor colleagues as we head into an unprecedented fifth year,” Cr Rush said.
Deputy mayor Ian North was also met with no opposition at the election, re-elected for his ninth term as second-in-charge at Bathurst Regional Council.
It is unclear at this stage whether Cr Rush and Cr North will hold their positions for the full 12 months due to the proposed merger between Bathurst and Oberon councils.
