Four-year-old gelding Panther Star ($1.90) justified his favouritism in a dominant second career victory, winning ahead of Williewa Bullet ($12.60, 6.8m) and Boundtobewild ($36.10, 12.5m).
Driver Emma Turnbull said Panther Star felt in control of the race from start to finish.
“I think it could have been a lot further if we really got serious. He went very nice. It was a drop in grade and a good draw for him,” she said.
“The boys are going to have a lot of fun with him. He’ll go through his grades.
“He probably hasn’t led when I’ve driven him before but the plan was to roll forward and see what happened and it just worked out perfect.”
Panther Star got out strongly from gate three to take control of the race.
Williewa Bullet took the sit behind the leader while Lockton Art was taken to the death seat.
That’s the way things remained until the turn for home where Panther Star began to put a small break on the rest of the field.
With 200m to go Panther Star got to around a seven metre lead on Williewa Bullet.
Turnbull continued to look over her shoulder for potential challengers but none were lining up.
The winning mile rate for the Four Starzzz Shark by Lady Elise gelding was 2:00.3.
The previous win for the Steve Jones-trained runner came back in July in his second start, which was also at Bathurst.
