Trent Copeland captained St George in defeat to Bankstown by 50 runs on Saturday, after the Saints were bowled out for 211 in their NSW Premier Cricket First Grade one-day match.

The first match back of the season for each team, saw a moment of brilliance, when Bulldog’s bowler Nathan McAndrew scored a hat-trick, after dismissing three Saints’ batsmen consecutively.
Originally from Bathurst, Copeland was the stand-out bowler for St George’s scoring 3-43 off 10, with the team failing to bowl Bankstown all out, as the Bulldogs scored 8-261 off 50.
But Copeland struggled with the bat, managing 3 runs of 10 balls, before being caught out by Bankstown’s Michael Stretton, with the Saints bowled out for 211 off 46.3.
Bankstown batted first, with Philip Wells (127 off 155) and Mitch Brown (74 off 63) top scoring for the Bulldogs, and the surged to 8-261.
St George started their innings well, with opening batsman Nicholas Watkins scoring 106 off 128, before McAndrew’s sensational hat-trick had the Saints all bowled out for 211.
After losing at home, the Saints will return to Hurstville Oval on October 1 to face Sydney University, who eased to victory against Campbelltown-Camden.
