The decision had to be made to postpone the heats because of rain in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The track itself had no concerns but the ground around the Eugowra track couldn’t handle parking.
Late on Sunday the fields were released for Bathurst, including all four heats and four other races.
Before the Bathurst rescheduling, Eugowra Harness Racing Club Secretary Jodie Greenhalgh said the club was determined to have the heats go ahead.
“The other option would be to have the stewards pick the final and I really don’t want that if I can avoid it,” she said.
“These horses are C0 class and some trainers save them for this series so the only fair way to decide a final is by holding the heats.”
Greenhalgh said the club was extremely hopeful Eugowra would be right for the $30,000 final on Monday.
“The track is good, there is no concerns there but the surroundings were very wet. We had the show a fortnight ago and the concern was that a lot of cars would end up bogged.”
Greenhalgh said the roads around Eugowra were largely unaffected but trainers from Forbes would have struggled to get to the meeting if it had gone ahead.
