With more rain predicted to fall in the coming days on already sodden ground, Bathurst Regional Council has asked Tent City to move from its usual spot at Police Paddock to Alec Lamberton Field at Kelso.
Parts of Police Paddock are already taking on swamp-like qualities, but the ground at Kelso is expected to hold up better in the wet weather.
Tent City owner Shawn Whitmore said he has never run into this problem at Police Paddock before.
While not too fazed by the news on Monday, he did say his team would “be pushing for time” to get all the tents up for campers.
“We run on a crew of about 10 or 11 locals, my three permanent staff, but right now I’m looking for as many hands as we can get,” he said.
More than 800 people are booked to stay with Tent City over the race period.
It takes one day to erect 100 tents, however staff also need to put together beds and establish other amenities for the campers before they arrive at Alec Lamberton Field.
Mr Whitmore said he would really appreciate help from residents to set up camp.
“Anyone who is looking for a few days work, there is certainly some available,” he said.
People who would like to lend a hand can contact him on 0438 623 705 or send an email to tentcityhire@hotmail.com.
Although further away from Mount Panorama, Mr Whitmore doesn’t expect campers will find too much of a difference camping in Alec Lamberton Field compared with the usual location.
“The council has been really good to relocate the buses for us and they’ll still run every half-hour,” he said.
