Wambigi Bathurst community worker Susan Wardman said the radio ads were a useful tool to raise awareness of the effects gambling could have on a family and their children and to get people talking about problem gambling.
“With an estimated one in every five Aboriginal people in Australia battling problems with gambling, Warruwi Gambling Help phone service was set up to assist with this problem and there’s face-to-face counselling available locally too,” she said.
Mrs Wardman said Warruwi Gambling Help was “a free, confidential and, more importantly, non-judgmental counselling service for Aboriginal people and their families”.
