Ms Gregory, who owns Bobbies Clothing in Bathurst and Orange, is preparing to shave her head on October 11 alongside friend Hayley Barrett, owner of The Impetus Initiative, to raise money for From the Ground Up Nepal.
The project, co-founded by Central West carpenter Nick Abraham, aims to construct a village school after Nepal was devastated by an earthquake in April, 2015.
“We decided that we should help him. He need $45,000 AU to rebuild this school in Nepal,” Ms Gregory said.
The women will shave their heads at a formal event at the Washington and Co. in Orange and hope to raise $10,000.
The event will be cater by Nimrods and will also feature an art auction of as many as 40 pieces, donated by local painters, illustrators, glass blowers and sculptors.
“It will be great exposure for local artists who want to get their name out there,” Ms Gregory said.
Professional hairdressers from Mane Men and Bottega Studio of Hair and Beauty will lend their skills to for the head shave.
Ms Gregory said she is feeling quite nervous about it, but is glad she isn’t doing it alone.
“Every time I think about it I get butterflies and when I look in the mirror every morning and wonder what it will look like; I’ve had long hair for years,” she said.
“At least we’re in it together and we can joke about it together.”
The event will get underway at the Washington and Co. at 6.30pm.
Although a free event, people are asked to register their attendance ahead of time via www.eventbrite.com.au/e/art-auction-head-shave-tickets-27119798046.
Ms Gregory and Ms Barrett also have a fundraising page to accept donations in support of the project.
