The Mungals Yellow side successfully defended the club’s ladies league tag title, maintaining the club’s strangehold on the competition in just its second year.
Mungoes men showed plenty of promise this year with a fourth place at the end of the regular season.
President Brad Wright said it was little surprise seeing who came out the award winners from each team.
“For the Mungals Blue Carly Elwin was the player’s player. She was excellent for the team all year and never stopped trying in any game she played,” he said.
“The Mungals Yellow player’s player was Kate Schofield. Very few would be surprised by that choice because Kate was also the Midwest league tag player of the year as well. Regan Hughes did the exact same thing for the men’s player’s player award.
“James Bruce was awarded life membership to the club after playing for five years and coaching for two. He played a big part in building up the club’s culture, and was integral in getting the girls involved in that culture.
“Our Brendon ‘Stubby’ Collits Medal went to Regan Hughes.”
Wright gave special mention to the two tag teams who he believes have helped take the club to new heights.
“We were nervous splitting the girls into two teams this year but it’s really taken off. To have one of our teams go through the pre-season then the rest of the year undefeated was amazing,” he said.
