The Bureau of Meteorology alert says damaging winds and heavy rain are predicted as a vigorous low pressure system and associated cold front moves through NSW.
Damaging winds averaging 50 to 70km/h, with peak gusts in excess of 90km/h, are expected to develop across the Central Tablelands and Central West Slopes.
In addition, moderate to locally heavy rain is expected to develop early Thursday morning
Meanwhile, the NSW State Emergency Service (SES) have issued a flood alert for the Macquarie River at Bathurst.
The alert said the predicted weather system has the potential to cause minor to moderate flooding along the Macquarie River at Bathurst, including Georges Plains and Perthville.
A flood watch is also in place for the Belubula River at Canowindra, Mandagery Creek at Eugowra and Molong Creek at Molong.
For emergency help in a flood or storm call the SES on 132 500.
