But now, nearly two years later, what is likely to be the final one is just weeks away.
Event organiser Nathan Swadling said the fight nights have been linked with his gym, Dreamtime Sports Academy, but now the focus at the gym is shifting into more areas of fitness.
“We’ve sort of called this [fight night] the Final Showdown,” he said.
“Dreamtime Sports Academy, we still have the competitive boxers, but we’ve kind of moved it into a sports academy, not just a boxing studio.”
Even though this event is likely to be the last, Mr Swadling promises a great fifth and final show.
Fourteen fights are scheduled for the event, featuring well-known local boxers as well as several brave newcomers to the sport.
Among those returning to the ring are Anna Evans, Mitch Stevens and Dave Sellers, while Sam Mulley and Dreamtime Sports Academy partner Luke Bennett will be having their first fights.
Hundreds of people attend Bathurst’s charity boxing nights each time they’re held and much of that, Mr Swadling said, is to do with the chance to see people who’ve never fought before take on the challenge.
“The appeal comes a lot from people who are having their first fights,” he said.
“It becomes a bit of a family and friends ordeal where they all come along and support them.”
The Final Showdown will be held at Bathurst Showground on Saturday, October 15.
Tickets go on sale Friday, with both general admission and VIP seating available.
The VIP seating allows patrons to enjoy ringside seating, a two course meal and all alcohol included in the price of the ticket.
The pavilion only holds 700 people, so Mr Swadling encourages people to get their tickets before they sell out.
Tickets can be purchased from Dreamtime Sports Academy on Charlotte Street.
Proceeds from the night will be donated to the Dream Wild charity.
It becomes a bit of a family and friends ordeal.
“Dream Wild works with a lot of children who have been victims of domestic violence, but they also help out with mental health and disability,” Mr Swadling said.
A full fight card will be released in the coming days.
