In April, we embarked on a lyrical tale of adversity and survival at the production of They Saw a Thylacine, gutsy and rebellious, the beautiful reimagining of Australia’s lost history shone a light on extinction and our own survival.
They Saw a Thylacine has won various awards such as 2014 New Zealand Fringe Stand out Performer and 2013 Melbourne Fringe Best Performance and Tour Ready Award.
In June, we caught a glimpse of teenage Australia in Sugarland, by Australian Theatre for Young People.
This production presented the world premiere season of a brand new Australian work inspired by the young people of Katherine in the Northern Territory. In recognition of the creative team’s ingenuity, Sugarland has been awarded as the 2016 winner of the Best Regional Touring Production.
BMEC welcomed another great show in June, Beyond by Circa. This show excellently blended dynamic circus acts with numerous, effortless feats of strength.
And more recently, Othello, showcased on September 22, drew to a close the 2016 season and once again, what an outstanding production it was by Bell Shakespeare.
