Michael Garrity took over as caterer at the Hungry Hound eatery at Bathurst’s greyhound track in May, but just two months later the state’s racing industry was banned by NSW Premier Mike Baird.
The Premier said the ban was justified because of the “widespread and unconscionable activity” in the industry.
Mr Garrity said the ban will wipe out the business he was building for his children Veronica, 15, and Jack, 14, who work alongside him at each Monday afternoon’s race meeting.
He accused the Premier of a knee-jerk reaction to a negative report into the industry.
But, Mr Garrity said if speculation is correct and the Premier does announce a reversal on the racing ban, he and his family’s future will be more positive.
“We’re going to run it like it should be run, your future is what you make it,” he said.
