Social Bowls: Tuesday’s rink winners were, Terry Burke, Mick Redfern and Ian Dews taking a 25-16 win over Darryl Whitton, Keith Pender and Frank Farrell. The Whitton team jumped early with a two on the first and second ends but the Burke team responded in kind to tie the match at four all going into the fifth end. The Burke team took control of the match to win the match as comfortable winners.
Peter Thurgood, visiting from Darwin, Gus Thurgood and Ted Crouch took the runners up prize with a 22-20 win over Alan Clark, Ian Warren and Ron McGarry. The Thurgood team scored a three then a two to get things going and were never headed in the match, despite only scoring on eight of the 21 ends played. A massive seven shot end win on the 11th end for the Thurgood team was the difference.
Jackpot winners: Tony McNamara, Mick Simmons and Darrel Bellamy with a 24-12 win over John Hobson, Bruce Parr and Kevin Howard. The Hobson team scored first points but the McNamara team immediately responded with a four end run of seven points to lead 7-1 going into the sixth end. A four and a one had the Hobson team back to one shot down and still in contention, but another run of six had the McNamara team lead back out to 13-6 going into the 12th end. A four and one on the next two ends was handy for the Hobson team but not enough and the McNamara team won comfortably.
Paul Kennedy, Peter Cummins and Bob Bembrick scored a 23-15 win over Glen Urza, John Banning and Jim Clark in a very competitive game. The Kennedy team scored first but the Urza team responded with a five end run giving them a 7-1 lead going into the seventh end.
