AS a three-year-old there are still plenty of races to come in the career of Blue Moon Rising, but Harrington Park trainer Shane Tritton certainly thinks he has the potential to develop into a star of the harness racing industry.

The Santanna Blue Chip x Lady Moonlight gelding will be aiming for his 10th win from nine starts on Wednesday night when he lines up in the second 2,260 metres heat of the annual Star Trek Series at the Bathurst Paceway.
“We got him from New Zealand and we’ve had him all the way. He wasn’t paid up for any of the big series as a two-year-old, but he has beaten some of the best like Our Little General, who won the Breeders Crown, and Astride who won Bathurst [Gold Crown],” Tritton said.
“He’s got a long way to go yet, but he’s certainly a nice horse. He actually won his first race on debut in Bathurst as a two-year-old, he got home in 54 something last half and I don’t there has been anyone go quicker than that at Bathurst.”
On Wednesday Blue Moon Rising, who is coming off a 1:52.9 win at Menangle, will go from barrier one with Lauren Tritton in the gig.
He will be taking on older horses and as Tritton points out is “still only a C0 and he’s still got a bit of maturing to do”. But he has gate speed and once in front, Blue Moon Rising has a proven record.
The seven-race meeting opens at 6pm.
