But the electronic age still hasn’t been able to replace local radio.
We find the radio on while , driving, gardening, working, cooking or just sitting as we listen to our favourite music and local presenters who chat about local issues, news and weather.
Above all radio is a constant companion and helps many people who are alone or away from loved ones. The need to hear that comforting voice informing you what is going on or presenting those favourite tunes just brightens the day.
Localism is playing an increasing role for community radio stations as the commercial operators become more centralised with satellite programming.
Radio is always just the flick of a switch away and hopefully you are ‘Tuned In’ to your local 2MCE 92.3FM Bathurst or 94.7 FM in Orange.
Subscribers AGM
NEXT month the 2MCE Subscribers AGM will be held with the election of two new board members featuring on the agenda.
Two positions become vacant each year and this is your chance to put your hand up for election to the 2MCE board as a subscriber representative.
The two elected representatives serve a minimum two year term on the board and can assist in formulating the direction of the station into the future as well as having a voice in the general operation of the station.
Margaret Hargans and Ron Gibson are coming to the end of their two-year terms and have indicated they will be standing again.
This is a chance to contribute and be heard as the station heads into the future, you simply need to nominate by November 14. Nomination forms will be available from next week at the 2MCE office – you must be a current financial member of 2MCE.
The AGM is to be held at 2MCE on Tuesday, November 29 from 6pm.
