“NOW to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the corner stone,” and “A stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall/. They stumble because they disobey the message – which is also what they were destined for.” 1 Peter 2:7-8

Have you ever had a stone in your shoe? It’s uncomfortable and it doesn’t take long before you take your shoe off and remove it.
In these verses Jesus is named as “the cornerstone”, a stone rejected by men, and one that makes us stumble when we don’t listen to the message, a message which is our true destiny. A message which can be uncomfortable if not understood.
When we know the message of Jesus it is one stone we don’t want to throw out, a message which instead brings hope, a message of love, a message which brings meaning to life. Instead we embrace it, becoming the “cornerstone” in our life.
Many of us who went to Sunday school would remember the song about the wise man and the foolish man. The wise man built his house upon the rock and the foolish man upon the sand.
Jesus is the solid rock upon which to build your life. The values and hardships which are found in the world today are shifting sand, so often we are let down, and we are swept away by the changes we see around us.
On the other hand the promises we find in the Bible are never going to change. God’s given us His word.
Jesus said: “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Matthew 7:24.
Place your life in these promises, place your life in Jesus, the “cornerstone”.
