The market, to be held from 10am-2pm at the Tarana Fire Shed just below the Tarana Hotel, will feature stalls presenting locally produced beef, lamb and pork, organic vegetables, honey, bread, jams and preserves, woodwork items, local wine and brewed beer, port, olive oil, home-baked pies and cakes, Greek sweets and chocolate.
The Tarana Bush Fire Brigade will have bacon and egg rolls using eggs from Allendale Free Range Eggs and Ruellas Coffee will be there, as will sausage rolls and pies from the Universal Eatery.
Parade is told a new feature at the market this month will be fairy floss and the feature demonstration from noon onwards will be Victoria Theyers making ricotta cheese and showing different ways to use ricotta.
Some lucky person will win a basket of goodies sourced from the stallholders and the proceeds will go to the Bushfire Brigade.
They’ll have a ball if they win
AS a regular visitor to the Land of the Long White Cloud, Parade has become quite a fan of all things New Zealand.
Parade likes the locals’ relaxed, understated approach to life, the nation’s disinclination to boast, the country’s incredible landscape and Kiwis’ willingness to go against world trends if they think it is the right thing to do.
And then there is rugby.
Parade is fascinated to know how a country of New Zealand’s size – there are about as many people in all of Kiwiland as there are in Sydney - has come to dominate this global football code so completely.
New Zealand’s All Blacks are not just a benchmark in their own sport; Parade regularly hears them mentioned as a benchmark in any sport for their incredibly high standards and sustained success.
Parade was amazed to read this week that the All Blacks, with a win this weekend, stand to set a world record of 18 consecutive Test victories for a Tier One nation.
It’s just a shame that the win, if it is a win for the All Blacks, will have to come against Australia.
